Where are you from?
I am from Jamaica in the West Indies. I was born in Westmoreland, a rural parish to the west of the island, but I am now living in Montego Bay the tourist capital.

How long have you been making music?
I began recording music professional in 1997, but I would credit my mainstream productions to late 1999. That was the year I started getting a fair amount of airplay and performing on stage shows.

What inspired you to make music?
In Jamaica, reggae music can be found everywhere, so it’s not uncommon for most youngsters aspiring to be entertainers. I began singing in school at concerts and I loved the response from the crowd. Working as an entertainer has always been a dream of mine so I took it seriously just after graduating Teacher’s College. I love music and that’s my driving force.

How would you classify your style, and why?
I am an Entertainer that blends the raw dancehall style with the smooth singing style to get what they call now “singjaying” or a “singjay”. My fans would say I am a singer though, because most of my more successful songs have been more of a singing type than the emerging dancehall culture. In all I refer to myself as an Entertainer.

What would be complete success for you?
Complete success for me would mean, major moves in the European markets, a set of permanent hits that will last forever like “Bob Marley’s One love” and the name “Teacha Dee” emerging as a household name, matching the popularity of many of the singers within Europe and the United States. Once my message in my music and/or the entertaining lyrics I compose get across the many language barriers we have today I will consider my work a success.

Do you have any albums, or featured tracks coming out, or already released?
I am currently finalizing my first album, which will feature some of Jamaica’s most respected reggae legends, both female and male. I don’t want to give that little surprise away as yet, as one such person has agreed but is still in the production stages the others are finished but now they are in the mastering stages too.
I have a nice catalog of hits plus popular songs which are getting good support overseas. The most successful ones are “Smoke and Fly – on the Kingston Town Riddim” which is available only on vynil. “Smugglin Weed – on the Overstand Riddim” produced by “The Mighty Pow Pow Movement” which is a major production company out of Germany and recently “ Reggae Souljahs – on the Ilove Riddim” produced by teka of reggaetown.de. I have many other singles out there that are getting a fair amount of support from radio stations worldwide but has not surpassed the ones I identified earlier.
I would advice my fans to just search the popular record shops and mp3 providers for the name “Teacha Dee” because that’s how I know about a couple of the releases myself. Most songs were done for hire the record labels just pay for me recording the song and are releasing them at their own discretion.

Any final thoughts to your fans?
I would like for my fans to know that I love them and I appreciate their support. For all those who are awaiting a video for the singles that are currently ripping up the airwaves, just be patient there is a lot going on about deals and albums and other stuff right now, so they will soon be able to see me on their favorite video countdowns if not all of them, and Finally..
